The order in nature
The coat of arms of Linnaeus shows his interest in the order in nature. It is divided into three fields; black for the kingdom of stones, red for the animal kingdom and green for the plant kingdom.

”God created – Linnaeus arranged”
That is how Linnaeus summarised his life's work. To us it may sound like a sign of delusions of grandeur, but for Linnaeus this was a humble standpoint. He was the one chosen to realise the order in God's creation.
Linnaeus had a distinctive feeling for collecting and systematising information. Furthermore he was skilled at selling his ideas and at filling those around him with enthusiasm. Those talents made it possible for him to realise many of his ideas.
